After earning a CPA while working at Price Waterhouse, he served as President of Fleetwood-Signode, a division of Illinois Tool Works, for 20 years, followed by a role as Chief Operating Officer of DuBose Strapping for 7 years. Under his leadership, both organizations achieved profitable growth with an average annual increase in double digits. Jeff Kellermann was also a guest speaker at the AISI Conference, where he presented on the development of “Automation and the Packaging of Steel.”

His greatest accomplishments arise from a keen ability to identify market needs and opportunities, build teams that develop innovative solutions, and implement effective plans. Dr. Pankaj Kumar is a Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, a Post-graduate in Industrial Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology New Delhi and a PhD in Quality Management and Predictive Analytics from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He has also earned the Post-Graduation Diploma in Quality Management from Mahindra Institute of Quality (MIQ).

He is a lead auditor of ISO management systems, a certified TPM Instructor from JIPM Japan, a Six Sigma Black Belt and a senior assessor of Tata Business Excellence Model (based on Malcolm Baldrige National Quality award of USA). He had a professional experience of 37 years with Tata Steel Limited in various functions such as Industrial Engineering, Capability Development, Standard Costing, Business Excellence, Total Quality Management etc. He worked closely with many TPM & TQM Gurus of Japan (Dr. Noriaki Kano, Prof. Yukihiro Ando, Dr. Shu Yamada, Mr. Tomoya Watanabe, Mr. Takashi Sagae) to implement various quality management concepts at Tata Steel. Under his tenure, not only many plants of the company received JIPM TPM Excellence awards, Tata Steel also became the first integrated steel company (outside Japan) in the world to win the coveted “Deming Application Prize” in 2008 and “Deming Grand Prize” in 2012. He also facilitated Tata Steel to achieve “Benchmark Leader” status in the TBEM assessment 2022 – 2nd such company in the Tata group.

He has presented several papers on TPM and TQM in international conventions and five of his papers have also been published in international journals. His first book titled “Daily Management the TQM Way: The key to success in Tata Steel”, authored jointly with Prof. Yukihiro Ando of Japan, was awarded the “Masing Book Prize – 2011” by International Academy of Quality (IAQ) at ANQ Vietnam in Sept. 2011. Recently, his second book titled “Daily Management and Problem Solving at Services”, co-authored along with Mr. Anil Sachdev of TQMI, has been published and released at the ISQ annual conference at Jamshedpur in 2023.

He is also a recipient of the Harsha Award from the Indian Society for Quality in 2022 for his outstanding contributions to the promotion and implementation of Quality Management through training and guidance in his organization for a sustainable effect. Post his superannuation from Tata Steel in December 2022, he has been facilitating and consulting many companies (including Tata Autocomp Systems and Tata Power Distribution Companies in Delhi and Odisha) in their journey of TQM implementation and Deming Challenge.

Sanjay Virmani, an SIBM Pune alumnus, has extensive experience in Human Resources, having worked in the HRBP (HR Business Partner) and CoE ( Centre of Excellence) roles at Tata Steel for over three decades in different capacities & businesses.

He is skilled in formulating and implementing key HR processes & practices impacting business outcomes and has made significant contributions to the formulation and deployment of progressive HR policies, leading HR transformation Task Forces, and introducing innovative people solutions.

He is currently associated with MVS ACMEI Technologies Ltd. ( in an advisory capacity) helping the organization build robust People Processes in their transformative journey.
